Best Practice: We strongly encourage libraries to consistently check orphaned requests on a daily basis and take the initiative to fulfill them. This embodies the true core mission of RSCVD, helping libraries obtain the documents they need free of charge and as quickly as possible.
The Orphaned Requests menu opens a community board that displays requests visible to all participating libraries.
- Accepting a Request: Just like with normal requests, click the “I will supply” button to accept and commit to supplying the item.
- Exclusivity: Once you accept an orphaned request, it is immediately removed from the public community board so other libraries can no longer see or fulfill it.
- Next Steps: The request will instantly move into your personal Lending Pending Requests list, where you can proceed to manage and fulfill it as normal.
